To keep pace with the ever-changing technological landscape, important changes are being made to the way we handle Apple IDs following the introduction ofApple Business Manager(ABM) last year.
Why are changes being made to company Apple IDs?
To streamline the management of your Apple ID, federated authentication will be deployed, meaning you can leverage your Microsoft 365 email address and password as your managed Apple ID, making it easier to use those credentials with your assigned Apple devices and iCloud on the web.
To bring Apple IDs into our managed environment, the company will need to reclaim unmanaged Apple IDs using the @linkhealthgroup.com domain that are not under our administration, notably those accounts that were set-up prior to 1st December 2021 and before ABM was introduced into the company.
Who will this effect?
If you use an Apple ID that was set-up prior to 1st December 2021, you will be asked to update your Link Health Group Apple ID with an alternative email address. Please make sure this is an active email address and not one associated with @linkhealthgroup.com.
When will the switch-over begin?
Monday 20th March 2023 between 0900 and 1700 GMT. You will have 60 days to action this request.
What will happen on the day of the switch-over?
If your Apple ID needs to be transferred to ABM, you will receive a message and a notification requesting you rename your unmanaged Apple ID. If you do not rename your unmanaged Apple ID, you will receive further notifications and messages. After 60 days, your unmanaged Apple ID is automatically renamed to a temporary username, and the original username is released and claimed by LiNK.
You will need to sign out of your Apple ID on your devices and then and sign in again with your Microsoft 365 username and password to continue using Apple services with your, new, managed, ID.
Will I still have access to the data stored on my unmanaged account?
Yes!
Even though you are updating your Apple ID, you do not have to change your password, and all your purchases and data remain in your non-LiNK account. You can login via iCloud which will continue to provide full access to account data after the switch-over.
Please make sure you have access to your non-LiNK (updated) email address, and you also know your unmanaged Apple ID password of the account that is being released. If you have forgotten your unmanaged Apple ID, you can reset it here Recover Your Apple ID - Apple (UK). Unfortunately, the IT helpdesk can’t assist with password resets for unmanaged Apple IDs.
Where can I get help?
If you have any issues during this process, please contact the IT helpdesk.
